Today started out with our weekly Chile 5 team meeting with Marcia (our local Pyxera rep). After the meeting the entire Chile 5 team went to a local technical school for a volunteer activity. The team presented a demo of the Reading Companion program and the IBM "controlling your online identity" activity kit. Gayathri and Masahiro created an entertaining skit to introduce the "controlling your online identity." Masahiro was very popular due to his knowledge of Japanese Anime.
The "controlling your online identity" activity kit contained a few funny videos that I recommend you watch (especially the first one):

In the evening Gayathri, Evan, and I went to the annual Canales Public Account. The event was by invitation only and was held on Skorprios II (see Day 7 to see pictures of Skorprios II). At the Public Account Cristóbal summarized the accomplishments of Canales over the past 12 months, introduced the Canales staff, and introduced the Canales board of directors. One highlights of the evening was a talk by board member Jorge Pacheco. Jorge is one of the founders of Canales.
Now for an embarrassing moment. Cristóbal also introduced Gayathri, Evan, and I. While we were being introduced in front of a 100+ people, Colin decided to call me to see if I wanted to go to dinner. My cell phone has a loud and annoying ringtone. It was so loud that people couldn't hear Cristóbal speak. I tried to turn it off, but at the time I also had Evan's cell phone in my pocket and kept trying to turn that one off instead.
After our introduction there was a cocktail hour that was graciously hosted by Constantino Kochifas. Constantino is also on the board of directors. I was pleasantly surprised to find that another member of the board, James Ackerson, was originally from the United States. Jimmy and I had nice chat during the cocktail hour. He actually knew where Binghamton was!!! At the end of the reception Gayathri, Evan, and I were pleased to have an opportunity to briefly speak with Jorge.
