Today there was an eerie calm for the team. We only had 3 brief meetings. The first was a 5-10 minute meeting with a higher education committee where we asked a handful of questions. The last was a 5-10 minute meeting with Cristóbal where we discussed where we are and where we are headed. The second was the most important meeting. It was a 15 minute meeting with Cristóbal where he asked us what our weekend plans were and where we discussed our proposed itinerary :).
The rest of the day was pretty low paced as we started to prepare for the transition from the "gather and collecting information" stage to the "now we need to produce something" stage. In that regard today was very much like the eye of a hurricane. It was our calm before the storm. Next week the winds will change and we will be frantically trying to squeeze what could take months of work into days.
Today also marks the official mid-point of our assignment. In 15 days I'll be on a plane headed out of my alternate plane of existence and back into my real world. I am already wondering what the transition will be like. I suspect there will be side-effects and/or withdrawal symptoms, but that's what CSC is about. If there are no side-effects or withdrawal symptoms then my CSC experience would be for nothing.
While today is the official mid-point of our assignment, we don't have two weeks to complete our work. My sub-team needs to give its final presentation internally on Wednesday of the last week. The internal presentation is the one with all the meat. The clock is ticking.
On an unrelated topic, last night I received some good news from back at home. My son Shayne received an honorable mention from the Goldwater Scholarship Committee. Congratulations Shayne! Shayne is a sophomore at the University of Scranton. Getting an honorable mention as a sophomore is a significant achievement!
Sorry, no photos. I did not take a single picture for two days now!!! Yesterday's committee meeting picture came from Evan.
