Back in April of 2013 I applied to IBM's Corporate Service Corps program. In July I was accepted into the program and in October I received my assignment. My assignment runs from March 8th to April 6th. I will be going to Puerto Montt, Chile.
Ever since I was accepted into the program I planned to create a blog to document my experience. I planned to share my thoughts on the application process, my reaction to being accepted, my reaction to receiving my assignment, the pre-deployment activities, and the deployment itself. Well here it is 1 week before I depart and I've just got my blog site up. Hopefully over the course of the assignment I will be able to blog about some of those earlier experiences.
I felt it was only appropriate to dedicate my first blog entry to thanking the people that are responsible for making this opportunity possible for me. I'd like to thank:

I felt it was only appropriate to dedicate my first blog entry to thanking the people that are responsible for making this opportunity possible for me. I'd like to thank:
- IBM as a company for creating the Corporate Service Corps program and opening it up to regular employees such as myself.
- My family, especially my wife, for supporting and encouraging my Corporate Service Corps participation.
- My management chain for allowing me to apply and participate in the Corporate Service Corps
- The members of my department that will assume my work responsibilities while I am on assignment
- The Pyxera Global team for handling all the logistical aspects of the assignment, including the creation of the Scope of Work for the Chile 5 Team
- ONG Canales for providing us with the opportunity to be a part of their team and their solution
- The members of the Chile 5 Team for being such an enjoyable team to work with during our pre-deployment phase. I look forward to meeting you all in Chile.
