This morning we went back to Puerto Varas to speak to Victor, the general manager of the Hotel Cabaña Del Lago. Our purpose in speaking to Victor was to learn more about how his hotels utilize Canales and how the hotels could help Canales improve its programs.
The hotel is a 33 year old family run business. Victor is the son of Luis Wellmann. Luis grew up on a farm. He went to a technical institute to become a plumber. He worked a variety of jobs before deciding to go into the hotel business. He became a pioneer of the tourism industry in the Puerto Varas. Luis is one more example an entrepreneurship success story in the Los Lagos region.
Evan suggested we take a bus back to Puerto Montt. In the spirit of maximizing our local experience Gayathri and I agreed. Berine, our interpreter lives near Puerto Varas. Before dropping us off at the local bus stop she drove us to her house and gave us a quick tour. Her house sits back from the lake and has a fanatic view of a lake shore beach and the volcanos.
After eating lunch in Puerto Varas and taking the bus back to Puerto Montt we went back into the office and continued our research. Today I finally got around to organizing some of the sources of information we received and syarted storing it out in our CSC team community. We have accumulated a great deal of information, but unfortunately most of it is tangential to what we are trying to focus on.
Today's pictures start out at the Hotel Cabana Del Lago, followed by some more attempts to capture the beauty of the lake and it's surrounding volcanos, followed by some picture's at Bernie's casa. The 3 water colors were painted by Bernie.
Sorry, no cruise ship today.
